Despite the commitment, a complete transition from fossil fuels to electricity is today a rather utopian scenario, given the current existing technologies. With supercaps this transition can happen more easily. They allow to increase the performance of vehicles and at the same time to let the batteries work only in nominal conditions, increasing their efficiency and useful life.

Shapability in the DNA

The Novac supercapacitor is completely shapeable. It is possible to adapt it to different surfaces and volumes for each individual case, thus reducing the overall dimensions and facilitating the design. The integration of a supercapacitor has never been so pleasant.

How it's done

It looks like a surface made up of several layers, two electrodes separated by an electrolyte, all developed entirely by the team. This tri-layer is then covered with a protective carbon fiber case for structural purpose. By overlapping more tri-layers it is also possible to obtain a device capable of occupying empty volumes.

The operating conditions in the space make it difficult to use liquid-state energy storage devices, as extreme temperatures and pressures can cause malfunctions in the event of freezing of the liquid electrolyte typically present in market products. In these conditions the Novac supercapacitor finds a perfect application, which thanks to its solid electrolyte allows to extend the operating temperature range, solving the problems of extreme spatial conditions. Furthermore, being the supercapacitor characterized by an extremely longer life than batteries, it is suitable for use in long space journeys that can last even tens of years.
